My story, in 12 reasons
Why I chose Batumi.
I could live anywhere. I chose a Black Sea city most Europeans can’t place on a map. These are the 12 real reasons — brochure-free.
01
Close to Italy and Europe
A few hours’ flight and you’re here: leave in the morning, lunch on the seafront. Far enough to change your life, close enough to go back whenever you want.
02
Safety
You walk at night without a second thought, anywhere. Petty crime is rare — the everyday calm is the first thing that surprises newcomers.
03
The real estate boom
The skyline changes monthly: new-build prices grew +9.4% in 2025 (Galt & Taggart). Living inside a growing city is a different feeling.
04
Ultra-low taxation
5% on residential rents, 0% capital gains after 2 years, 1% turnover tax for small businesses (PwC 2026). Western Europe plays a different league — in reverse.
05
Bureaucracy cut to the bone
Title registers in 1 day (World Bank DB2020) and the country ranks Top 3 worldwide for business environment (B-READY 2024). The state doesn’t waste your time.
06
A friendly time zone
Just 2–3 hours ahead of Italy: work with European clients and family without jet lag or odd hours.
07
Nature everywhere
The sea in front, the green Caucasus mountains behind, the Botanical Garden ten minutes away. In half an hour you go from beach to mountain villages.
08
Georgians and their culture
Hospitality here is serious business: the supra (the Georgian feast), the toasts, a proud people with their own language and alphabet. You feel like a guest, never a foreigner.
09
Rights that are protected
A legal system that protects people and foreign investors, with digital, transparent courts and registries: what you need to live and invest with peace of mind.
10
Private property, guaranteed
Ownership is full and locked in the public registry, and new national taxes require a referendum (Organic Law on Economic Freedom). Not marketing: law.
11
Off every blacklist
Georgia does not appear on the EU’s tax blacklists: a cooperative, transparent country — not an opaque haven. (Lists evolve: always check before any operation.)
12
The food
The Adjarian khachapuri was born here, khinkali are addictive, and Georgia has one of the world’s oldest winemaking traditions. Eating well costs half of Western Europe.
And why you might choose it too.
Don’t take my word for it: come see it, or start with the free guide. And if you have a question, that green button is there for a reason.
